It is always a bitter sweet time when the market season comes to an end, although recognizing and working with the seasons is what SKY Farmers Market is all about.
You may be asking yourself, "what will I do this winter?"
You can start by adding yourself to the O'Daniel Farms' winter delivery list. Each Saturday, November until March, they will take orders via email and deliver fresh produce right to your doorstep. To sign up visit their website: www.odanielfarms.com.
Though Au Naturel Farm will not be at market this week, they will also soon begin winter deliveries, including fresh produce raised in high tunnels and fresh baked breads. You can visit their website for more information as well: www.aunaturelfarm.com.
You can find links to all of our vendors' websites on our recently renovated website: www.skyfarmersmarket.com. Or email our Market Manager at skymktmgr@gmail.com
Remember, no breakfast this week; however, JD Bake Shop and JD Country Milk will be bringing milk and baked goods to market.
We still have local honey at the market, so pick some up this week! Stop by and see Bobby Groce at Groce Farms or Steve at Kenny's Farmhouse Cheese to get honey produced in Simpson County.
We still have lots of different varieties of pumpkins for Halloween and Thanksgiving table decorating including the classic "jack-o-lantern," cinderella, and lumina. You can also find lots of mini pumpkins and gourds for stacking and decorating. Look for them at Louellen Mimms' booth as well as the Coleman's, the Groce's, and the Lockhart's. Interestingly, Indiana, Ohio, California, llinois, and Pennsylvania are the biggest producers, but you can ensure that yours were grown in Kentucky by shopping at SKY Farmers Market! Pumpkins can be stored in a cool dark place between Halloween and Thanksgiving for your holiday decorating purposes.
Bobby and Thelma Groce still have plenty of beautiful chrysanthemums again this week. They have had 7 brilliant colors including: red, white, yellow, burnt orange, pink, lavender, and purple. You can also find mums and Asters at the Colemans' booth.
And, don't forget to do some early Christmas shopping this week. Hand-thrown pottery, dyed cloth, local art, and gourmet food all make great gifts!
Thank you for supporting small farms and your local economy this season!
See you at the Market!

Saturday is our last week of the season! We hope to see everybody one last time! And, thanks for supporting your local farms this season! |

A Note from Crocker Winery We have 3 products folks can stock up on for the winter. Our Whole Ground Lamb is USDA inspected and contains the meat of the whole lamb...chops, legs and all. This stuff is easy to use in everything from burgers and spaghetti to fancy Italian dishes. It is very mild but has a rich flavor. There is a discount for buying 3 lbs or more. We have quart mason jars of 100% Concord grape juice. This juice is from our grapes and was processed in the commercial kitchen of John Hoover in Scottsville. It has nothing added and has some sediment and possibly seeds at the bottom. This juice is perfect health food especially for non wine drinkers. Wine is also a necessity for winter and makes a great holiday gift to give or receive.
Visit the Crocker's booth this Saturday or contact them during winter through their webpage.
